TRACY HOGG is a British-trained nurse, lactation educator, and newborn consultant with over twenty years' experience. She has devoted her career to developing a unique approach to baby care. At the start of her career she specialized in infants with learning disabilities and physical handicaps. Like babies, they had their own ways of conversing--a sort of non-verbal communication expressed through their cries and body language. In order to help them Tracy had to learn to understand that language and become their interpreter. As she began caring for non-disabled newborns she came to realize she could comprehend their non-verbal language as well. When she began working as a nanny in the United States in 1992, word of Tracy's uncanny ability to understand and calm crying infants quickly spread. One client, a horse fancier, dubbed her "the baby whisperer" and the name stuck. Since then Tracy has worked with thousands of parents who, once they know what to look and listen for, are amazed at how quickly they start to understand their babies.
Tracy founded Baby Technique in 1995, through which she consults with parents individually, organizes and teaches group classes, and provides nanny training and referrals. Her previous book, Secrets of the Baby Whisperer, co-authored with Melinda Blau, was a runaway national bestseller. Tracy lives in Los Angeles with her two daughters and husband.
